Re: Buttons on the back

Hi! The three buttons can be assigned to a number of different actions. This is described in the "Button Behavior" section starting on page 49 of the User Manual (sorry, it's kind of buried in there :). If you go into the Configuration Tool you can also click on the "info" button...

Preventing Windows from disconnecting USB MIDI devices

Here's a tip for users of the WARBL and other USB MIDI devices on Windows 11. Windows may try to disconnect "unused" MIDI devices to save power. In the case of the WARBL, this may happen if you are connected to the Configuration Tool and you switch to a different tab in your browser or swi...

Re: WARBL and JackTrip

That's great! Another great platform for low-latency peer-to-peer audio is Sonobus: https://sonobus.net/

It was created by Jesse Chappell, who has helped me with a lot of the coding for the WARBL and is also the maker of the ThumbJam app. It can be used as DAW plugin and there's also an iOS version.

Re: iphone

Hi! I believe that almost all of the latency that you are experiencing is the result of the Bluetooth connection between the iPhone and the speaker, rather than the connection between the WARBL and the phone. That's because Bluetooth audio is *much* slower than BLE MIDI because there's so much data ...

Re: Disabling the Bottom Hole

Oh, I didn’t realize that! Unfortunately I think you’d need to use a custom chart for that.

Re: Expansion Port Connector for WARBL2 – I2C Device Integration

I don’t know a lot about using software I2C but you may be correct. I had limited space to break out pins so I didn’t end up using the hardware I2C because those pins wouldn’t have been usable for anything else. For that reason I decided to prioritize an analog pins and some unused digital pins for ...

Re: Disabling the Bottom Hole

If I understand the question correctly, I would have thought you would need that hole to play the D with uilleann fingering(?). But to disable it you may have to use a custom chart.

Re: Expansion Port Connector for WARBL2 – I2C Device Integration

Hi, here are the notes from the firmware. The cable I mentioned is the only one I’ve tried so far (and I’ve only used it for testing the connector). However, I think the size is fairly common and the datasheet for the connector lists the specifications, I believe. Just let me know if you need more i...

Re: Improving moisture control

Yes, that is a definite advantage of a closed mouthpiece! I tend to allow extra air to escape around the vented mouthpiece as well.

Re: Feature Req: Make stopping the chanter by covering bell hole optional

Yes, there are several fingering charts like the Northumbrian pipes with some hard-coded behaviors. I'm trying to move away from that so that I don't have to add more fingering charts manually, but some instruments have "quirky" behaviors that don't lend themselves well to a catch-all appr...
