Re: Good Application for Windows?

Great, thanks! It's working on my machine as well. Here's the direct link for the Windows installer: https://sourceforge.net/projects/qsynth ... e/download

I believe that people have had success with this app on Linux too.

Re: Bug / user error. UP fingering c# sometimes flipps and gives c

I just looked at the fingering chart, and in general your right hand shouldn't play any role in controlling whether it plays a C# or C natural. If the L1 hole is uncovered and both L2 and L3 are covered, it should play a C natural, and if either L2 or L3 are uncovered, it should play a C#. There is ...

Re: Bug / user error. UP fingering c# sometimes flipps and gives c

This sounds to me like it might be related to vibrato. If you're not using the "custom" vibrato with uilleann fingering, the vibrato will sometimes "latch" and stay on until you change fingering. The normal vibrato isn't very well suited to instruments like uilleann that use clos...

Re: Example settings for tin whistle expression

Good, I'm glad the overblowing control has gotten easier! Thanks for this suggestion about adding visualization for the tone holes-- I'll look into this. In theory it would be possible to add it to the Configuration Tool because it already has all the information from WARBL that it would need. In ge...

Re: Example settings for tin whistle expression

Hi James, Lowering the "jump" setting is the correct way to make it easier to go directly to the second register-- it sounds like you've tried that already. As you may have discovered, if it's too low it will jump too easily and possibly oscillate back and forth, so I try to get it as low ...

Re: No hysteresis when overblowing to get the top octave

Hi Louis, Thanks very much for the feedback. Someone else recently suggested adding hysteresis for the second register, and I think that's a good idea. I'm going to experiment with that when I have a bit of time. My apologies about the trouble you had with the setup. I plan (hopefully soon) to make ...

Re: Breath-based Vibrato

Velocity actually only controls the volume at the start of each note, so for vibrato you would instead want to use a MIDI CC message. That will be sent repeatedly while you are playing the note, instead of just at the start of the note as with velocity, so it can continuously change the volume. Most...

Re: Invert thumb on basic sax

The "invert" capability only works for fingering charts that don't use the thumb as an integral part of the chart, for example tin whistle/flute and a few others. For sax, recorder, etc., the the thumb functionality is hard-code into the chart because it's a little more complex than just c...
