Re: Android OS

The FluidSynth app is good, however, it doesn't run on all android systems. The developer is aware of this and, I believe, is currently working on a new version. It runs on my Moto-G phone, but not on two Samsung devices I have. The general midi soundfont that it prompts you to download is OK, howev...

USB cable

Feedback for future... I really like the braided USB cable that comes with the WARBL. It does, however, have one drawback - it's very stiff in torsion. What happens is if there is a twist in the cable and you play an "all fingers off" note, the instrument tries to twist. Biting the mouthpi...

Re: Logic Pro X + WARBL confusion (newbie)

If you're hearing the crossing notes on some presets and not on others, it may be that the attack phase of that voice is harder. For instance, a trumpet preset has a much harder attack than, say, a flute. Depending on the synth and preset you may be able to tweak the attack.

Everybody wants their own fingering

OK, here's an idea... On the Aerophone you can set your own finger combinations to get notes that you want. It's a great feature, because everyone is unhappy with some aspect of the standard fingerings. On the WARBL, to get the fingering you like you can either: a) convince Andrew to build it into t...

Re: Sliding down onto a note

OK, fixed. It's an issue with the XpressO. Ingo (the developer) has a setting for this. You need to set Pitchbend Mode to "String Pitchbend" It automatically sets the pitchbend to the midpoint on note change. It's actually quite useful for my EWI as well. The only drawback is that you need...

Re: Input pressure settings

Ah, sorry about the confusion. I'm assuming that the max input pressure on the configuration slider corresponds to somewhere near the max on the graph. On the slider I set the pressure to give max volume to well below the 50% mark, so I was wondering which users would set the slider at 100%.

Re: Input pressure settings

Further on air pressure... I expect max volume to occur at about 6"H20 (according to the graph on the config tool). I can get the graph to go to 20", but who uses that? Do pipers expect to have to blow really hard? My experience with clarinet, sax, tin whistles, recorders is that they use ...

Re: Sliding down onto a note

I got that funny result on my XpressO synth. I just tested my RPi Fluidsynth, and my Roland JV1010 and they perform correctly. I checked the noteons and they were correct, so I think it's a bug with my XO.

Thanks for the explanation. I'll do some more investigation.

Sliding down onto a note

Not sure if this is a bug, or an incorrect setting. When I slide down onto a note by partially covering a hole, the note bends down, then when I cover the hole completely I get a note about a semitone below where it should be. If I simply stop blowing, not move my fingers, and start blowing again I ...

Re: Things that other Wind controllers do

Re the key delay, a while back I did some testing with my acoustic clarinet and recorders, and found that the legato latency was around 40msec. It took that long for the pipe to start resonating at the new frequency. I may have not been too accurate, but I doubt it was half that value. 40msec would ...
