Re: Baroque flute setting on appcordions

normally with acoustic instruments the octave shifting is done with embouchure/breath control alone in the case of flutes and tin whistles or with the assistance of a vent either an open hole operated by the thumb or L index. The octave key is supplementary to breath/embouchure control. In EWIs with...

MIDI messages

I would like to seek clarification of the midi messaging of the warbl - does a note on command (CC1, note#, velocity) which is activated by an ramp up of the breath pressure, transmit a variable or fixed velocity parameter? Is then variation of volume once the midi note has been triggered achieved b...

Re: Boehm flute fingerings?

An extra comment - just like the EMEO, Boehm flute keywork could be implemented using Hall effect sensors mounted on a real instrument's keywork. The 14 or so sensors would be interpreted given the state of the breath sensor. To date there appears to be no satisfactory implementation of a transverse...

Re: Boehm flute fingerings?

I dont see how the warbl could emulate the Boehm flute - there are a fingerings based on 6 fingers and a thumb octave key. For Boehm you need C C# D# for RH4, G# for LH4, and B /Bflat for RTh, not to mention the trill keys. And all those extra notes would require actual physical keys, in addition to...

Baroque flute setting on appcordions

I have noticed that the ability to overblow and reach e3 in the third octave on appcordions only seems to work in concertina. I dont know why. Anyway the Warbl remains the only EWI with good enough breath octave control to actually play classical music.

Re: headphone jack

more room for added circuitry and backup battery in a larger warbl - say 20mm ID tube. Also easier to implement offset hole for RH4 (D#) Maybe the battery could be installed by the user after delivery?

Re: headphone jack

yes I would like to be able to play with just earpods and the warbl. Maybe utilising a soundchip such as the VS1000D audio codec IC.

headphone jack

Hi just a thought - could the code be edited to use the bell sensor optionally as a headphone jack? 8-)

Re: Some prepurchase questions, experiences and doubts

I bought a Warbl and am quite happy with it, I intend to use it as a way of playing silently while in hotel rooms/at work when I'm bored etc. I have found it works pretty well emulating an acoustic instrument, in my case a flageolet whistle, with only a few limitations. I appreciate the openness of ...

Re: Everybody wants their own fingering

I'm happy with altering the finger pattern file, as long as I can get some guidance now and then. For an Irish flute player, the warbl has some advantage in that irregular fingerings and the differences between the 1st and 2nd octave fingerings are removed, and other fingerings where notes such as t...
