Re: Sax Fingerings

The O|OXO|XXOO alternate middle C# still isn't there. I'm not yet sure how to work the aftertouch data, so I haven't played with that yet. Also, I notice that *|XXO|XXXO (either octave) produces B natural. I don't know if this is intentional, but it seems like not such a good idea. Better to leave t...

Re: Sax Fingerings

I gave it a quick try last night, and all looks good, except for the alternate middle C#. That wasn't working. Going from O|OXO|OOOO to O|OXO|XXOO didn't do anything. The regular all-open C# works fine in both octaves, as does D.

admin wrote: Wed Oct 02, 2019 7:19 pm Here it is, if you'd like to try it-- I haven't tested all the changes, but here's what I did (all these should work in both octaves):

- Fixed C# so it's OOO OOOO in both octaves
- Added XXO XXOO for G# (both octaves)
- Added OXO XXOO as an alternative C#
Looks good. I'll test it tonight.

Re: Sax Fingerings

By "all holes open" I meant to include the thumb hole, so that should be the high C#. As for an alternate middle C# in addition to X|OOO|OOOO, yes that would be desirable, to have a trill from D. Recorder players use that a lot.

Re: Sax Fingerings

Finally, I've had a chance to explore the new recorder fingering. Straight away, I see that we lost G#. This is my fault, for not thinking this through. On a regular recorder the G# fingering is different in the two octaves. You're not trying to reproduce that behavior in WARBL, and the result is co...

Re: Sax Fingerings

I'll get to it tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for pulling this all together.

Re: Sax Fingerings

Yeah, all the possible fingering variations are a lot to take in, especially when these are fairly far from your original vision for WARBL. But the instrument has a lot of potential trad music, and that can only be good. Incidentally, I've been "half-holing" that low C# with the recorder f...

Re: Sax Fingerings

Now that I've had an opportunity to test things, I find myself using the recorder fingering rather than the sax fingering, for chromatic playing. It just feels more natural to me, even though it's not exactly like a recorder either. Rather than start another thread, I'll just put my suggestions here...

Re: Firmware v. 1.6 available

I don't know. I rebooted, started over, and this time it worked. I have no idea what the problem was, but it's sorted now. I have the modified 1.6 with sax fingerings installed.

Re: Firmware v. 1.6 available

I did select HID mode. Just one blink though. I tried the toothpick many times but never got more than one blink.
