Re: How much easier is WARBL than bagpipes? Octave range?
After years of trying to sound like other acoustic instruments using midi wind-controllers I have come to the conclusion that you have to be skilled and knowledgable on the acoustic instrument first to be musical. It is fairly easy to use a midi wind-controler to trigger bag pipe software or apps bu...

Re: Chords
Agree and I didn't feel the piece was particularly musical and I struggle with developing a system to play chords along with single notes. I try for awhile, give up and then try again later. Maybe some day but I doubt it will come close to the capabilities of a guitar or keyboard. I am just enjoying...

Re: Bell Sensor Bending
The effective control of MPE requires keyboards that are specifically designed to send the required messages. The keys themselves have special sensors built in. Don't see how you could send midi note on and off, x y and z axis commands using an optical finger sensors. On the other hand, I have been ...

Re: ANY SCALE AND ANY TUNING ON THE OPTICAL HOLES
Modern standards of digital musical instruments (e.g. Artiphone a digital guitar fretboard without strings ) allow in customization and configuration to correspond any note to any of the musical buttons (e.g. Artiphone allows in the configuration software to correspond any note not only to any stri...

Re: Add optional MPE support
I have two MPE keyboards and Mac software that supports MPE and a few apps that also support MPE. I have been able to send midi messages to trigger x y and z axis using the WARBL in bag mode but didn't find it all that musical and there is a learning curve to even get it close to musical. If you are...

Re: Would it make sense to have a "WARBL" fingering?
In my case, the fingering system was not a major factor when I purchased, as I was not familiar with any of the initial fingerings. There was no system that I knew so I was expecting a large learning curve, as is the case with all instruments. What attracted me is the ability to play in bag mode, no...

Re: Bagpipe bags
I use the PUC+ and bag mode all the time. Works great but I don't think they are still in production. I use Mac and ios and never had any issues with it. I found mine used on Reverb.com years ago and used it with other wind-controllers and keyboards. Make sure you get the wires that came with it. PS...

Re: Sax Fingerings
The fingerings know as Saxophone, Extended were originally designed for a range of (depending on your octave shift) from G2 to C#5 (29 note) full chromatic using over-blow to get the upper octave. I use my WARBL in bag mode and found it difficult to play in the upper octave so I had my setting using...

When one is not enough
Came across this: https://youtu.be/hC57wLfGX8A Love it when musicians finish with a smile even after you know you made mistakes. Alen can smile with two whistles in his mouth. I am assuming one was modified to block off the upper holes. Using a WARBL and a modified whistle might be interesting. You ...

Re: Using Warbl as a Wind Controller for Dynamics
I only use my WARBL in bag mode and have controlled vol with aftertouch but it gets complicated and results vary widely depending on the software you are controlling. I got my best results using Equator on Mac.
