Hello
I am having issues with my Warbl. I play it through an Ipad. When I go to use the configuration tool it connects but as soon as I scroll down to the bottom of the page to calibrate it the app goes blank.
I have tried the reset button to no avail.
I went to update the firmware on my Windows Laptop and it doesn't show up as a device when I plug it in. I can see it as an audio bluetooth device but it doesn't present as a device in a way that I can drag the firmware update on to it.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Issues with Warbl - Not recognised on Windows - Configuration tool blanking
Re: Issues with Warbl - Not recognised on Windows - Configuration tool blanking
Hi Eldon,
I assume this is a WARBL2 because you mentioned Bluetooth, is that correct? If it is a WARBL2 and you hold down button 1 when you plug it in, it should show up as a drive on your machine called WARBLBOOT. You can then drag the firmware update to it.
I'm not sure about the issue on your iPad, but the first thing I would try is to force-close the app. You can also try click the blue refresh icon at the top of the app to see if that helps. If there's not a blue refresh icon (and blue text that says BLE MIDI) then it's a good idea to update the app in the app store.

Re: Issues with Warbl - Not recognised on Windows - Configuration tool blanking
Thanks Andrew for the reply
I'm not sure if it is a Warbl2 I it was purchased in December 2021. There's is nothing I can find to suggest it is a Warbl2.
I tried that procedure with pressing button 1 on putting in the usb and that didn't produce the result that you said. I get the chime that sounds like a usb device has been plugged into the laptop but nothing else. It is still showing up as Bluetooth audio device. I tried resetting the Warbl and pressing the no. 1 button while plugged in with no success.
With regards the Ipad I am running ios 10.3.3 (14G60)
I don't see any blue text in the Warbl configuration tool. No Blue refresh button no blue text stating BLE/MIDI.
I looked in the app store and there is no update listed as being available for it.
Still at a loss.
Thanks

Re: Issues with Warbl - Not recognised on Windows - Configuration tool blanking
Sorry for the confusion-- you have an original WARBL, as I just released the WARBL2 this year.
The firmware update process is a bit more complex for that one: You need to install the QMK Toolbox app on your Windows machine and then use it to install the firmware. The links to the app and the most recent firmware are on this page: https://warbl.xyz/originalDocumentation.html
This video may also be helpful for the update process: https://youtu.be/EZlVC2u9PRs
Regarding your iPad: The WARBL app was updated last month but if the App store isn't showing for some reason that there is an update available it may best to just delete the app and then reinstall it from the store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/warbl-con ... 1445377915
Hopefully that will solve the issue your seeing on your iPad, but just let me know if it doesn't.

Re: Issues with Warbl - Not recognised on Windows - Configuration tool blanking
Thanks again Andrew.
I successfully updated the Firmware but I am still not having any success with the configuration app. I am experiencing the same issue with the app blanking when I try and use it with my Warbl.
I deleted it and re-installed it. I suspect that I had the updated version all along as I have automatic updates activated on my ipad.
I'm wondering if the updated app is the issue? I haven't used my Warbl in awhile so the last time I used it would have been on the older version of the app.
Thanks
Eldon

Update
I found a work around
I configured my Warbl through the online configuration page on my laptop and that has translated into being able to use on Celtic Sounds app on my Ipad.

Re: Issues with Warbl - Not recognised on Windows - Configuration tool blanking
Great-- I'm glad you were able to update the firmware and find a temporary workaround for the iPad. I was just testing the app on a few iPads and an iPhone and I haven't been able to reproduce this issue yet, but I'll continue trying and I'll let you know if/when I find a solution. Could you tell me which iOS version you have on your iPad?
One thing that is a common source of problems on iOS is a Lightning adapter that isn't working properly. However, if the WARBL seems to be working fine with Celtic Sounds then that probably isn't the case here.
Thanks!

Re: Issues with Warbl - Not recognised on Windows - Configuration tool blanking
Sorry, I see now that you had already mentioned that above. Unfortunately, I think the issue is with the age of the iPad and the fact that it can't be updated beyond 10.3.3. The WARBL app now technically requires at least iOS12 to work properly--this is a requirement imposed by Apple and is unfortunately beyond the control of the developer. Sorry about that!
One possible workaround you could try is to install the Web MIDI Browser App: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/web-midi- ... d953846217 Then, within that app you can navigate to the Configuration Tool: https://warbl.xyz/configure.html
I'm not positive that that will work on your iPad either, but it's worth a try. If it works you can bookmark the page within the app. My hope is that someday Apple will add WEB MIDI to Safari to make all this business with apps unnecessary, but so far they haven't shown signs of doing that.
