My background is in clarinet/sax, and more recently in EWI.
I've just done an EWI/Sax fingering that adjusts the Sax fingering in similar ways to the "extended Sax" fingering. Points to note:
- EWI style Bb and Ab fingering using R1
- Alternative Bb LH "forked" fingering like a recorder
- All fingers down gives C (I understand the original Eb use, but I think the C is more important)
- Eb using R2, R3
- Single finger F (R1)
- Covering R3 gives lower C# down to G
- Lifting L1 gives upper C up to G
- 2 octaves plus thumb hole gives 3 octaves
- Overblowing is still possible to get 4 octaves
If you want to use this, you need to download the fingering chart program here
and install it using the Arduino IDE (Andrew's instructions on Github are clear and concise). You'll need to replace the Github file fingering_charts.ino with the one you downloaded above.
A PDF of the fingering is here
Enjoy!
Gonzo
PS note that my fingering chart file includes all the other (unchanged) fingering charts - it's only the sax one that has been "tweaked"
