Lost my upper octave

Post by bridgeshome »

Hi, Andrew!
Well, once again I’ve managed to completely flummox myself! ;)
I apparently got carried away on the configuration tool and now have no notes above high D on tin whistle using Celtic Sounds.
Tried ‘restore factory settings’ to no avail.
Thanks

Hi! If you’ve restored the WARBL factory settings the next thing I would check is the “MIDI Transpose Semitones” slider in Celtic Sounds to make sure that hasn’t been changed (it should be set to 0).

When you blow in the mouthpiece while connected to the Configuration Tool, does the pressure display show the full range of pressure from 0 to around 24? If it does and the settings in Celtic Sounds look correct, feel free to send me a screenshot of your Config Tool settings and I’ll see if I can find anything.

Curioser and curioser!
I’ve attached screen shots after setting transpose to ‘0’ - now I can still start to play a scale in the lower register, but the low note then turns into F# after descending back to all holes covered.

Hmm, that is odd. Does the pressure range of the sensor seem okay as I mentioned above?

Another test you can do is to turn on the rudimentary sound in the Configuration Tool by clicking the loudspeaker icon in the upper left corner. Do you you get the full range with that sound, or still just one octave?

Pressure range seems good.
Reset to factory, auto calibrated and it's better, with higher octave back. Fingering touchy from D up - have to be right on fingertips.

Ah, okay—it was probably just that one of the holes wasn’t registering as being covered. After auto-calibrating you can go through the holes one at a time and use the up/down arrows to fine-tune the calibration. You do have to be sure to click “save calibration” after doing that.
