Fingering to learn

Post by DaBrain »

This may be a naive question, but just ordered my warbl and have never really played an instrument.

Just want to have fun….which of the available fingerings would be easiest to learn?

I’m leaning towards saxophone in case I ever want to try the analog instrument.

Tin whistle/Irish flute is probably the easiest because it is a very basic pattern. It's also known as the "simple system flute" pattern, which you'll find lots of information about online. Most wind instruments are actually very similar, so it wouldn't be too hard to transfer to sax or clarinet fingering if you start with whistle. However, those more complex instruments also have additional keys that aren't available on the WARBL, so there would be a definite learning curve involved with switching from WARBL to sax, for example, regardless of which fingering chart you start with on WARBL. The "sax" fingering on WARBL is really just an approximation of the real thing because of the lack of keys on the WARBL.
