Hello. I am wanting to write flute tab for the warbl. My understanding is that 1 would indicate the tonic of whatever key is being notated. I am wanting to notate microtonal systems within the context of the tablature. What I am finding interesting is that the various fingerings give me essentially different modes of this system I’m working in. Having said that I don’t think that the tonic is necessarily the farthest hole from the mouthpiece in this context. Maybe that doesn’t matter though. If I transcribe what I am doing, musically with notes above the tab and simply leave the fingerings below as they would traditionally be, do you think this might equate to best practice?
Also, could someone recommend a piece of software that can notate flute tab? I tried to get Lilypond up and running, but did not have any success. I am currently looking at
ABC Software which may be the solution. Notation is Ben Johnston
