Ideas for a WARBL 2

Post by waltercool »

Hi,

Just proposing some ideas in case you decide to go for a WARBL 2, according to most requested stuff:

- Extra ROM Memory: So we can add custom fingerings because many people wants them, and fixing everything at the code actually scares non-technical people.
- Battery + Bluetooth for MIDI: No idea if would create much delay, but the battery could be some AAA just like the Fagerström Technopipes. My bluetooth airdrum system have ~8ms
- Battery + Extra ROM memory for MIDI + Headphones support: Just thinking about the Blair since you can upload custom instruments with pre-made fingerings, limited by space. https://blairbagpipes.com/downloads/
- Optional mounthpiece more like a Windkapsel, with some airflow regulator. So would feel more like a flute for flute players, whistle for whistle players and practice chanter for bagpipe players. https://www.dreiers-dudelsackbau.de/ins ... wkaps.html
- Optional bag for bagpipe players with mouthpiece and airflow control? Thinking like the Redpipes with air system.
- Moving buttons a bit lower? Not sure if everyone have the same issue but I keep pressing them by mistake because too close of the resting spot.

No idea what else, maybe a back hole like Cornemuse? https://www.albanfaust.se/en/musette-be ... ange-f-bb/

Thanks for all these suggestions! Some may well make their way into a future version.

I've been looking at the synthetic Bannaytne bagpipe bags, as a good option for the WARBL. It looks like some (like the sealed uilleann bag) could be used as-is, but I like the idea of an airflow regulator. In the past I've experimented with drip-irrigation fittings for this.

About the bag, yeah, I had some ideas in mind in a personal project:

- Small Bannatyne as you mentioned, Goose version (https://www.bannatyne.ltd.uk/wordpress/ ... le-collar/)
- Valve with 1 input 2 outputs for "Bag", "Chanter" and Air leak. Not sure if the valve would be best here, Redpipes uses a valve next to mouthpiece or drones. (https://www.amazon.com/AQUANEAT-Aquariu ... B08LGHWB77 or https://www.amazon.com/DFsucces-Aquariu ... B099RNPM2M)
- Mouthpiece, can be made from custom with a 1/4mm tube + rubber flap valve (https://www.bytheswordinc.com/p-7670-ba ... gflap.aspx) and make them fit somehow.
OR
- Mouthpiece, can be made from Little Mac Valve (https://www.hendersongroupltd.com/produ ... mac-valve/) + Blowpipe from Twist-Trap Practice Chanter (https://www.hendersongroupltd.com/produ ... wist-trap/) and make them fit somehow.

On this, I'm still in planning stages, but bannatyne bag price is wonderful for this.

Looks great! I like those little aquarium valves better than the irrigation valves that I've used.
